Lyrics... nella Inglese
Okay, here are the lyrics to that song IN ENGLISH. They fit the moment, but they're pretty good. I have some things to say about it, but those can wait for a blog to be written later tonight.
Things don't translate literally. Welcome to the challenge of linguistics. Anyhow, I will put my own flair into the words I provide; I hope to catch the essence of Josh Groban's original intent.
Wow, now that I have finished and am ready to copy my work into this blog, this took way more work than I anticipated! Most of it is very literal; consequently, it's choppy and doesn't make sense if you're not accustomed to the cultural quirks. For example, where they said, "Dedicated to he who is always parched," we might prefer to say, "Dedicated to the desperate."
Here we go.
Dedicated to the guilty or innocent,
Lost in this sea,
And surrendered to the current-
He who's never winning.
Dedicated to he who always has hope
When charging into the pain
Of the coldest room.
Dedicated to he who searches for liberty.
I sing to life-
To its beauty,
To its pain;
Its every beauty.
(the English verse)
Dedicated to he who always becomes parched,
It wasn't possessed;
Slipping through your fingers,
It was gone before you had it.
I sing to life.
In your eyes reflects
An easy and infinite land
You promised us.
I sing to life
A song so sweet and fair;
To this, our journey,
We're chained again.
It calls to us!
Don't doubt; never!
Don't doubt; never!
Don't leave it alone.
Alone... again.
I sing to life,
to its beauty...
I sing to life
A song so sweet and fair.
To this, our journey,
We're chained again!
It calls to us...
